Reiki for Animals…
Reiki Teacher...Alexis James Crabb
Hi! My name is Alexis I was the Judge at the recent Guardian Angels Dog Show in Javea. The day was a big success. I enjoyed every minute and from the positive comments received at the end of the show so did the Exhibitors. The majority of dogs were rescues, whether mixed breed or pedigree, how lucky they are to have found such wonderful owners.
Dogs have always had an important role in my life. While handling the dogs at the show I noticed that several were confused and unsettled in unfamiliar surroundings. Others, though well loved, were stressed because their owners had set no boundaries and the “Dog” had to make all of the decisions!
I have trained many dogs but my German Shepherd Hank, (see photo) has been the most difficult in my experience. So much so, that there was a time when I believed I could no longer keep him with me. He is a big, strong, intelligent dog and was determined to be the Alpha male. I willingly listened to advice from fellow trainers but he did not improve. At the end of my tether I asked for help from a very respected retired dog trainer. He listened to my tale of woe and then said: “The only advice I can give you is… Everything you are doing is right. Keep Going! You have a very difficult, determined dog. I cannot tell you how long it will take. But in the end he will be your Best Pal”.
And he is!!!
Two years ago my ‘Best Pal’ was very ill. The Veterinary told me that there was no more we could do for him. I was devastated and felt so helpless.Reiki has become an important part of my life. I have treated many sick animals and others with behaviour problems. The only thing I had to give was Reiki. I began to treat Hank. In fact, I gave him Reiki at every opportunity. Waking several times during the night I gave him treatments and sent distant healing when I went out, After ten days, maybe more, when I had almost given up hope, one morning at about 3 am he sat up, rose to his feet and walked out into the garden.
Two years have since passed and he is still a very important part of my life. He has felt the power of Reiki and will nuzzle my hands when he decides it is time for another Reiki experience.
I have found Reiki to be beneficial to all animals in many ways:
Reiki does not replace veterinary treatment.
The gentle energy transmitted through a Reiki Animal Therapist or an owner with Reiki knowledge and experience
will strengthen and restore the animal’s natural balance.
We are unable to say precisely what the animal feels or sees when receiving Reiki.
We may not know why our animals are sick or confused but from personal observation they do respond well to Reiki appearing to benefit from receiving this beautiful, gentle energy and to greatly enjoy the experience.
